Backyard wildlife

  On Saterday we had a doe come around for a visit she was eating apples in the neighbors yard. I watched her for quite awhile and thoroughly enjoyed the faces she was making as she rolled the apples around in her mouth.

I went for a walk to my usual trail and seen a very cute little garter snake all curled up on the bank

So there are my wildlife and flower sightings for the last couple days hope you enjoyed and sorry about the snake photo to the snake haters out there but he's just so cute and little. 

Some Finished Projects

I made a caftan and got my mum to snap this picture when we went for a walk down to the waterfront.

We stopped to visit this fat cat on the way home he was a very friendly fellow

    My friend will be over for a couple days from Alberta at the end of August and I decided to put together a gift. I realized I never did get her a housewarming gift so I decided to do a tea towel cake.

I think it turned out pretty cute

She likes plants so I got these cute little plant ornaments

and I always try to find something beach themed for her gifts to remind her of home.

 My mum made a couple plaster fish for me to hang on my wall, I tried to paint them up but it wasn't working out so I decided to use textured spray paint to make it look like sand.

I quite like how it turned out

Tea on the Terrace

  Hello there
   Well today I had my first event to go to in my 1912 centennial costume. A local art gallery (the Rollin Art Center) holds a tea on the terrace every Thursday in the summer and this year they asked if the centennial belles (we're being called the centennial belles now) would come and help serve the guests, so this time it was my turn along with two other lovely ladies.

There I am in the middle and the other gals are Patricia and Maggie

Patricia was very pleased with the back of her dress it was very lovely. Her hat was gorgeous you can't see in the photo but it had lovely peacock feathers along with the bright flowers.

and here I am in front of mum's house I got my dad to drive me over I didn't really want to go on the bus in my costume.

Well I certainly had a lot of fun everyone's costumes where lovely and I sure did have fun making mine

Costume for 1912 Centennial

I've been working on a costume for the centennial of my town. I've got a few things coming up where I'll be wearing it. So I'll try to get more photos at the events. I think it will be a lot of fun.

I went to the museum to do some research and found this really cool gator purse.

I love checking out the clothing and textile section at the museum it's really neat to see the workmanship that went into clothing back in the day.

  I seen this beer shirt the other day when I was searching for something on google and I decided to make one for my boyfriend..

My mum cross stitched this herb picture for me and I got it framed up yesterday

My mum cross stitched a ring pillow for my cousin's wedding and I sewed it all up

There wedding colors are lime green and purple

My mum and I chose this butterfly fabric as there are butterflies on the center pieces my aunt is making. You can't see in the photo but the fabric is sparkly.

and last of all I cut up a fitted sheet the other day for the fabric and the cat decided he liked playing with the elastic bits

So that's what I've been doing I have a few other projects on the go as well that I'll be sharing when I'm done.

Sea Shell Art from the Thrift Shop

    I picked up a couple sea shell art wall hangins at the thrift store the other day for a dollar each. It took me awhile to decide whether I should get them as they were a bit dated...

So here they are not really doing it for me as is

but I decided to pick them up in the end and give the frames a coat of paint, so after a coat of paint on the frames...

now with a nice coat of paint

I think the blue really breathed new life into them, I am kind of a sucker for sea shell art.

A Drive up the Mountain

A Squirrle and Stuff

Mum and I went for a walk down to the local farmers market the other day so I thought I'd share a few pictures.

We seen this cute little red squirrel who must be getting fed because he practically walked right up to us like he was expecting a tidbit, unfortunately we didn't have anything for him.

   So that's what we saw I actually went to get some honey but the honey man wasn't there so I guess I'll have to try again next Saturday.  It was a lovely day and we seen lots of birds and what not.

Dress Refashion

I picked up a dress at the second hand store the other day but after I got it home and tried it on again I decided it was a bit to revealing so I decided to make it a bit more modest.

Here is the dress it's especially revealing in the back as it has a racer back that shows my bra

So I got this oversize t-shirt for 4 dollars at a local liquidation type store. I like brown and purple together.

and combined the 2 into this dress a lot less revealing. The skirt is a bit shorter than I would normally wear but it's not so bad now that there is less skin on the top.

 I decided I wanted to somehow bring some of the purple to the top of the dress and found this wonderful tutorial and followed it to make this

Now I still had some leftover from the bottom of the brown shirt

So I decided to make one of the t-shirt scarves I've been seeing so much using this Mr.Kate tutorial

I used some blue fabric from my scrap pile to tie it up and I may add something shiny later on.

Frogs and Salamanders

There are so many tadpoles and baby salamanders in the ditches and ponds this year so I decided to go get some pictures the other day...

I was really exited to catch this guy the tadpoles are very easy to catch but once they get legs on them they're very fast. It's so cool to see the stage between frog and tadpole.

There are a whole bunch of these baby salamanders swimming about so cute.

Looks like the racoons has been hanging around probably eating tadpoles

 I got a little wet and mucky, I actually slipped in the mud and ended up on my but in mucky pond water. Luckily I didn't go face first and ruin my camera ha ha. I did get a few funny looks on my walk home but it wouldn't be the first time I've gotten funny looks and I imagine it won't be the last. I have a lot of fun I love poking around in ponds and seeing what kind of critters I can turn up.
