Ocean Cusions

I decided my chairs needed some matching cushions so I did a search and found this pillow here that I really liked and made these...

and awaited approval from the boss
yep they'll do I guess

and these ones as well
and that was the end of the leftover chair fabric but I wanted to make more cushions for our new couch (well new to us I found it on Craigslist and I am really exited about it as our old couch was in pretty terrible shape) so I dug up some fabric from my stash and made these guys...
These ones have not been Dante approved yet
So that's what I've been up to I'm pretty happy with how they all turned out and am very exited to finally have some decent furniture in my living room so people can now sit and be comfortable. Well have a great day and I hope you are surviving the storm if you live on the east coast of North America, which at the moment I'm glad to say I do not. Some of my in laws where in New York for a wedding and just made it back home before all flights where cancelled so it was a pretty lucky break for them.
I guess this new yorker is making out okay ha ha

Amazing DIY Moisterizer and Toner, Acorns and a Orphaned Earring Tree.

Hello well I haven't been up to much latly as the boyfriend and I have both got the flu but I have been puttering away at a few things. I'll start with a homemade toner and moisturizer that I've been using for a couple months now which have been working amazing, they are actually reducing the ruddiness of my skin which is something that nothing else has ever done for me and I had thought it was something I just had to live with and they have also reduced the amount of pimples I get.
From left to right there is moisterizer, eye-makeup remover(I also just use it as an eye moisturizer) and toner.
So I got the recipes at potholes and pantyhose and they are all very simple and relatively inexpensive to make. The moisterizer is watery like a toner so I use a cotton pad to apply it and just toss the pads in the compost bin. One change I made to the moisterizer was adding one drop of tea tree and one drop of lavender essential oil which really helped clear up any acne but the cider vinegar helped a lot with that already so the essential oil isn't really necessary unless you have some really stubborn acne.
As for the toner the only change I made was to cut it with water, the eye-make up remove is the same and I use it as an night time eye moisterizer as well as make-up remover.
So anyway I really encourage you to give these a try they've worked so well for me and she has a lot of other great things on her sight as well for beauty as well as cleaning.

Next I've been playing around with acorns that I've collected up on my strolls.
I got this jar second hand and painted some acorns 3 shades of blue and did an ombre sort of thing.

I glittered these guys but I need to find a cute little dish to display them in
and finally I was wondering what to do with all my orphaned stud earrings that I get at in my broken jewlery that the thrift shop saves for me and finally decided to do a jewelry tree and here is how it turned out
I think the more earrings I add the cooler it will look I embroidered the tree and stretched and glued the fabric to a piece of cork.
I found the tree pattern online but yet again forgot to bookmark the page where I found it, one of these days I'll learn. So those are a couple little things I've done until next time and have a wonderful day.

A Couple of Chairs

I picked up a couple chairs at a a couple garage sales that needed some love. The first one was $6.00  and since it's on wheels I thought it would be really nice for my sewing chair.
here it is, just a little outdated and it was also very rickety and needed to have some joints re-glued.

So here is the after I first re-glued the joints then gave it a coat of Frozen hot chocolate in Benjamin Moore in semi-gloss.

For the fabric I had some heavy white canvas that I ombre dyed with tintex in royal blue (after I sewed it all together) then stenciled an octopus on the back. The fabric didn't go on as nicely as I would have liked so I may have to play around with that a little to see if I can't get it smoother and less lumpy.

a close up of Olly octopus you can really see how lumpy things are here.
I got this next one for $5.00 it was very beat up and smelled a bit like pee pee. apparently the people have dogs that chewed up the cushions and possibly peed on them as well.
The before, Dante was not sure about how it smelled at first he sniffed it a long time before he finally flopped down in it.

So here is the after I'd like to paint the frame but I think it will have to wait until next summer now. Dante has decided that this is now his favorite chair although he does still sit in this chair but he seems to prefer this one especially if I'm sitting in it then he sits and stairs at me until I get out of it then jumps in it.

He also likes to be under it

a good spot to lay an ambush on bit's of string and toy mice. He used to like to hide and run out and grab at our legs but stopped after he started getting overzealous with the claws (I don't think he liked the names we called him).
So anyway that's what I've been up to have a great day.

More Jewlery and Hampers

I worked away at a couple more pieces of second hand jewelry and here is what I got...
so here is this necklace before looking very beat up so..

I used nail polish to repaint it, I used a toothpick to apply the polish.

the chain was broken as well so..

I replaced it but I think I may replace it again if  I get an antique gold chain in the future.

I think it looks pretty good on though I don't think the chain is really noticeable.

I also got this small bit of fancy chain that didn't have a clasp on it so I don't know if it's a piece of old necklace or a bracelet that lost it's clasp.
before
and after I just popped on a clasp and...

I've got a bracelet
and last of all my laundry hamper in the bedroom was falling apart so I used the old hamper as a pattern and made new ones.
the old hamper, the frame part is just fine but the hamper itself..

not so much

the divider in the middle is also torn I actually decided to make two separate hampers

and here is the after I used a second hand sheet and did a his and her's thing with buck and doe stencils I made.

the doe
the buck
Well that's what I've been up to, have a Happy Thanksgiving (Well if your in Canada anyway I guess Americans don't celebrate until November and I don't know if Britain has Thanksgiving but if you do and it's today Happy Thanksgiving).
