Some Stocking Stuffers and Rosemary Flowers

Hi there
Well this morning when I woke up and came out to the kitchen to make breakfast I was delighted to find that my poor scraggly little rosemary plant was flowering. It was like a little late Christmas present...
Such pretty purple flowers
The plant looks so pathetic I keep checking to make sure it's still alive hopefully it will eventually fill out a little I guess you  just got to be patient with plants sometimes.
Anyway thought I'd share some other gifts and stocking stuffers that I didn't want to share before Christmas or I'd give away the surprise.
I made these felt hummingbirds for my aunt and grandma's stockings I used this pattern. The sight has lot's more bird patterns as well here. I made all the owls for my mom.
Now these next ones I posted about before but my friend just started following my blog so I took the post down but I'll put them up again now...
I made these polymer clay roses using this tutorial then made them into earrings for my friend in Alberta my mom and my aunt and I also made a big rose that I made into a brooch for my Grandma. I painted them with mod podge to make them shiny and they went over quite well. I'll sort of explain what I did below.

I found this ring holder for my friend as well I hope she still wears rings.

I knitted up this snake scarf for my friend as well I found the eyes at a second hand store, I used cotton.

I made these coasters from the purl bee, I love how bright they are.

I sent along a makeup bag I made from fused plastic.

I made chocolate marshmallows or snow balls but I used....

homemade marshmallows with this recipe here. I actually found a recipe for "healthy" marshmallows as well if you want to give those a try if you do let me know how it goes.
So I think that's all my gifts posted now I'll share a couple hints for making the clay earrings..
Okay so first off it's really hard to get the back of your rose smooth before you bake it without smooshing it, so after you bake your rose your probably going to have to smooth the back. I used a dremel on a med-low speed (to fast and you shoot your rose across the room and have to crawl around on your hands and knees looking for it ha ha) but I'm sure you could use sandpaper just be careful not to catch your petals because as you can see it kind of discolors your clay.
Now I used E-6000 glue and used a toothpick to apply glue to the rose and the earring post, let it set for about a minute then smoosh the earring post to the rose hold for a couple seconds then...

just set your earring like this to dry really well I left mine overnight then if you want a glossy finish...

stick your earrings in a piece of oasis or Styrofoam whatever is handy and paint them with glossy mod podge.  Or if you don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on watered down white glue make your own. It's so easy to make your own mod podge and who wants to spend that much on white glue with a bit of clear varnish in it.
Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and I hope to see you next time.

Merry Christmas

Hello thought I'd say Merry Christmas and share so pictures I took when visiting the boyfriend's family at Mt.Washington on Sunday. His family likes to ski and snowboard, I on the other hand have tried skiing twice and kind of hated it, it just does not feel right to me having two big long boards strapped onto my feet, I can't ice skate either and I don't like hockey how uncanadian of me ha ha. Anyway we did try snowshoeing and I really quite enjoyed it.
Here we go the boyfriend started out in the lead
Here's the bf posing for a pic
Lots of snow
more snow
We seen these geese flying overhead you'd think they would have gone around the mountain
hmm I think it' been snowing a bit the sign got just a little buried
and these are my sister in laws parents Yoko and Sam who we went with.
A Charlie Brown Christmas Tree ha ha.
Ocea enjoying her new sock monkey we decided to let the kids open there gifts early
and AJ with his truck he was not really feeling well and wasn't really into posing for a photo. When he opened up his gift he exclaimed "hey trucks don't have eyes" I thought it was quite cute he did seem to like it though apparently he slept with it last night
Passed out with the sock monkey
This cute little shrew kept scurrying around between the window and the snow that was piled against it he had little tunnels all through the snow. We put some little snacks out there for him to eat. It's crazy to think something so tiny could survive a winter up on a freezing cold mountain. Good luck little buddy hang in there.
the moon looked so lovely as we where getting ready to go
Anyway Merry Christmas tomorrow if you celebrate and if you don't just have a lovely day.

The Last of the Christmas Gifts

I finished up the last of my gifts yesterday and they are all wrapped and ready to go.
A plush truck for my boyfriends nephew that I made using this tutorial, I think hers looks better than mine though ha ha

I think he turned out pretty cute though

and 2 sock monkeys for my boyfriend's nieces, I used this tutorial to make them. This was defiantly one of those projects where it just does not look right at all and you think you must have screwed up but then in the end it all comes together and it looks awesome. I'm really happy with how they turned out and I hope the girls like them to.
So anyways there's my gifts all wrapped up pun intended. I hope everyone else is all ready for Christmas on Tuesday or maybe you where banking on it being the end of the world yesterday ha ha.
Merry Christmas everyone or Happy whatever else you may celebrate or just Happy Holidays if you don't celebrate anything.

A Walk in the Snow

When I woke up this morning the scene outside resembled a Christmas card so I decided to go for a walk and get some photos to share.

The start of the trail I walk on, looks so lovely
and here was the scene as I got a little further on the trail
Snow covered conifers a classic Christmas card scene if only I could get a reindeer or a white bunny rabbit in a Santa hat to wander into the scene

more lovely conifers

looks like there was a lovely deer wandering around earlier in the day, to bad he wasn't around for a photo
I love ferns and they look so pretty with a light dusting of snow

I love how these mushrooms look like they have a dusting of sugar
I love this cobweb covered in water droplets

more mushrooms

and again with the "sugar"
So anyway there are my snow pictures Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays if you don't celebrate Christmas. Thanks for stopping by.
